Wei-Jen Chen
Research Associate in Cross-sensory Fabrication
My work is associated with BIG:Diverse.
She is a Human–Food Interaction researcher exploring how food itself can become a dynamic and interactive medium. By integrating technological effects into the materiality of food, she creates edible interfaces that shape taste perception and emotional experiences during dining.
Her research draws on multisensory interaction and crossmodal perception, bridging food design, technology, and sensory experience. She also developed the Food Interface Design & Experience (FIDE) framework. Her design philosophy emphasizes intuitive interactions with minimal learning effort, aesthetic appeal and emotional acceptance, and meaningful functionality, with a commitment to bringing research beyond the laboratory and onto the table.
