Ewan Soubutts

PhD Researcher in HCI and Digital Health"

Introduction

Ewan is an EPSRC-funded PhD Researcher in HCI and Digital Health and is jointly a member of Bristol Interaction Group and the Digital Health group at the University of Bristol. For his PhD, Ewan is studying technologies that support the health and care needs of older people living in homes with more than one person. His research has investigated the emotional journey and impact of stairlifts in older people’s homes as well as the use and acceptability of Echo Show ‘Alexa’ devices. Ewan teaches on the Introduction to Computer Science, HCI and Research skills courses. Outside of the lab, Ewan enjoys running, playing the piano and making YouTube content.

The Bristol Interaction Group is a creative interdisciplinary team with a mission to improve peoples’ lives through the design of better technologies. We study interactions between humans and technology, design novel interfaces and devices, critically examine social and environmental impact, and deploy and evaluate new interaction paradigms in everyday life settings.
